The match started with a period of sustained pressure from Kesteven with the scrum and backs both working extremely hard and in a cohesive manner. It was totally justified therefore that they managed the first score from an excellent turnover with the forwards doing their bit; the backs then spun it out to the wing where Ingram powered into the corner: 0-5.
Dinnington equalised with their first attack even after four or five crunching tackles from Kesteven backs and as they converted it went into the lead: 7-5. Kesteven came right back to score quite simply the best try that this year group has ever scored. It was a wonderful back move that saw the ball go out to the wing swiftly where Ingram made a fantastic pick up off the floor at speed and then when he was just short of the line managed to flick it back inside to the supporting Bide who ran in for a superb try: 7-10
For the second time in the match the home side had an attack and for the second time they scored which meant that they went in at half time with a 12-10 lead.
The second half did not match the first for the intensity of play which was in a large part down to a serious injury to one of the Dinnington players. Due to the loss of their hooker the scrums were uncontested and from a 5 yard scrum Dinnington ran over for an easy try that was converted: 19-10. The final score was following a kick to the corner and Dinnington went over from the resultant lineout: 24-10. The final score does not reflect, what was genuinely an excellent performance by Kesteven U15’s - one that sets a pretty high standard for the rest of the season.
